The green ribbon was officially cut by the state minister east Africa affairs Hon. James Magoda as the Greene economy agenda was launched. Hon. Magoda encouraged East Africans to always be cautious about nature and its preservation. “The idea of greening in any country is very important. Preserving nature is equally very important. Where I come from, I see young people now considering every bird as food to eat. Some things should be left as part of the ecosystem of nature,” Hon. Magoda said. The Green Economy Organization East Africa (GEEA) is inspired by the need for response to calls by the international community for a holistic approach to spur progress on how and why a green economy is the world’s best route towards a safe and prosperous future. “The Organization is working towards supporting emerging climate change actions towards the green, low-carbon, climate resilient development model. The organization is framed to operationalize green economy concepts on the ground through results and impact-oriented action,” says Edwin Musiime the GEEA secretary general and Ambassador Green economy East Africa. The delegates witnessed the launch of the green economy east Africa Summit whose theme; “Together for our Climate and Galvanizing action for a sustainable economic growth,” will set the tone of conversation. The Uganda summit shall be held on the 24th and 25th October at the Kampala serena hotel.
